Elderly Hospital

Recently, I has been in and out from hospital. Been seeing a lot of elderly patients seeking medical treatment. They have lots of problem, communication barrier and seeking the right department to go. Most of them don't have their children to help them. Those who have their children or grand children to accompany them, they don't have any problems to getting around the hospital. Anyway, they still managed to get the proper treatment due to the friendliness and patience shown by the nurses.
Maybe, the Ministry of Health, Malaysia can set up a hospital especially for the elderly with the easiest way to get around all the department in the hospital. We, Malaysian consists of many races with lot of different languages. Communication is a major obstacle for the elderly who don't speak Malay or English. They don't understand the instruction given by the nurses, and the explanation by the doctors. Elderly people have been contribute their life to our society and to the world. It is time that when are they old, they get all the care they needed. And, we the younger generation will be like them just in a couple of years. Treat them well, as what we would like to be treated when we are at those stages or age.

  1. Your comment is indeed true. For that matter all sick people are vulnerable. Their health condition makes them extra sensitive. When we are old, we are extra, extra sensitive. Treat elderly with respect and love.

  2. Ummu Ilman,
Most of the patients came to seek treatment on their own. Many of them don't understand the instruction given by nurses. They need longer time to process the information or instruction. It is better if the lab and pharmacy could be represent with a specific color so that it is easy for the elderly to go to the lab or pharmacy or whatever department. It is easier for the go seek for the color then the name of the place

  4. I agreed with you, you are right! Prevention is better than cure. I think the most important step is to educate Malaysian about the importance of health screening at least once a year as a step for prevention.Like my father, he is having lupus now. He waited till the things became severe than only he agreed to go for treatment
